The first buckle given to me was a present by my youngest sister long before I got into John Wayne, it is in the shape of a horseshoe with an inlay inside of a cowboy on a rearing horse, alas this piece has long since broken off but it still makes a nice buckle. I purchased my first John Wayne belt buckle long before I got interested in John Wayne it is the second one on this page. The first buckle I bought after getting hooked on Wayne was from a market stall at Mansfield a Town over here in England. Then I joined The John Wayne Film Society over here in England in 1996 and bought a few more from the society, but some of the John Wayne buckles were bought as presents by my two children, nearly all the buckles on these two pages are of the western theme. Now, I have a friend in America whose name is Terry Rush "The Nebraska Kid", now he gets really depressed if I find a new buckle and then send him a picture of it. Anyway he asked me once why not share them with the rest of us and put them on your site? well Kid you got your wish with these pages.

As
I have said above my youngest Sister got me this buckle, I don't know where she
got it from but her husband as got relations in Canada so it may have come from
there or she may have bought it while on holiday abroad.
I
bought this buckle in a holiday resort over here in England called Skegness and
it was a long time ago. It must have been fifteen years ago if not more because my
children were only youngsters and my daughter is now twenty-one. Well we were
just strolling around looking in shop windows when I saw this buckle and I still
was not a collector of John Wayne memorabilia
but I went in the shop and bought it. It cost about one or two pound, can't
remember the correct price because it was a long time ago but I do know it was
really cheap. I have since found out that it is one of a limited edition, on the
back is the John Wayne signature.
This
was the first buckle I bought when I got interested in John Wayne films. I
bought this buckle on Mansfield Town Market over here in the UK it cost me about
ten pounds as far as I was concerned this was my first John Wayne belt buckle,
because I had forgotten all about the one above in fact I had no idea where it
was but as you can see I found it.
I'm
not sure where I bought this one from but I'm sure it was in the UK. I think I
bought it whilst on holiday in Dover where Sandra's relations come from. And
most likely it also came from a market stall, the design looks like a Colt 38
Diamond-back, I think I paid about five pounds for it.
I
saw this buckle on a market stall in Chesterfield Town over here in the UK, I
picked it up and had a good look at it and put it back on the stall it was
priced at ten pounds. Un-be-known to me my wife Sandra sent my daughter back to
the stall a little later on, I got it that year as one of my Christmas presents
from my wife.
I
can't remember buying this American Cowboy buckle but for the life of me I can' t
remember where it was from but it only cost about eight pounds so it must have
been somewhere in the UK.
I
bought this one in Malta when we were on holiday one year at Christmas. At the
time we where looking for a present for our daughter's boyfriend as it is his
birthday in February, we picked a motor cycle buckle for him and I bought this
one for myself which cost about ten Maltese pounds.
I
bought this New Mexico 1986 commemorative buckle in Pathos, Cyprus 2001 while on
holiday at Christmas it cost about eight pounds of their Cypriot money. There
was another buckle there that I liked also, silver coloured, with a 1886
Winchester on it.
This
buckle was bought for me by my son on the same day I bought the one above, it is
the one I have described above with the Winchester on it. He knew his mum had
told me to pick one out of the two so I picked the Mexican one. Un-be-known to
me he bought this one the same day, borrowed the money off his mum until later.
He went missing for awhile, when I asked were Thomas was my wife said he went
back to a shop to look at some tee-shirts, he gave me the buckle for my birthday
in April 2002.
This
buckle is the only one I ever wanted to own, but I thought there was no way I
was ever going to get a Red River D belt buckle. But a week or two after my 60th
birthday 2002 my daughter Cassandra came down to see us, and gave me this
package she said it was a belated birthday present. When I opened it, well was I
surprised. She had only gone and sent to America for it for my birthday but the
reason it was late was that the Customs over here was not going to let it in the
Country, but as you can see they did.
This
one I bought while on holiday at Newquay 2002, I new about this shop that sold
cowboy gear so we had a browse around it. I found this great belt with Stetsons
and Boots on it but it had just an ordinary buckle on it. The woman in the shop
came over to me, I asked her if she had got this belt with a different buckle
on it. She said no, but just pick which buckle you would like with the belt and
I will exchange it for you.
This
one I bought at the John Wayne Convention over here in England in May 2003 it
only cost me ten pounds it is a nice buckle silver coloured with an inlay of
John wearing a Cavalry Uniform.
This
one was a great find right in my home Town of Alfreton, how it came about we
were shopping and my son Thomas grabbed my arm and took me to this second-hand
shop window and pointed to this belt. Thomas went in the shop to see what price
it was and it was only five pound so that was another one for my collection.
I
bought this one while on our summer holiday in Malta 2003, you can find some
great buckles anywhere in the world if you keep your eyes open.
Malta
2003 bought the same time as the one above.
I
was going to buy this one myself at The Motor Show 2003 here in England, my
sister was going to The Motor Show and said she would get it from a man who as a
stall at the show but he wasn't there. But my son Thomas came to the rescue and
said he would buy it for me as a Christmas present but he went one better and
also bought me the one below as well.
A
Christmas present from my son 2003.
I
bought this one while on holiday in Cyprus to see in the New Year 2004, best
about it I wasn't even looking for any buckles. Because we where in a shop for
women's attire but what the heck a buckle is a buckle if I like it I buy it.
My
brother-in-law told me about this one he had seen at Heanor Town UK 2004 which
only cost four pound, so I told him if you go again and it's still there, to buy
it for me.
My
sister came down to our house, she told me she had bought herself a new belt it
had eagle heads on it and silver Concho's plus this buckle. I know she had not
bought it for herself she was just having me on, the belt and buckle cost me
just £4 in 2004.
I
bought this one in May at the John Wayne Convention 2004 which cost me £10, it
was the first time the organizers had run a two day event and it was a great
success two of the Dukes films on each day on a big screen it was GREAT.
We
were in Malta for our summer holiday 2004, we went to the big market in Valletta
when I came across this buckle and another one which cost around £7 Maltese. I
was going to buy them both there and then but Sandra my wife said just get the
one and when we come at Christmas get the other which I did.
This
is the other one that I have spoken about above which I bought in Malta
Christmas 2004, I also bought the two below as well for about the same price.
2005
I have no idea where this one came from I can't even remember buying it or where
it came from in fact I did not know I had it. I found it while looking for some
thing for my son in our false floor in our home, it is the same design as one of
the previous buckles but bigger and is brass coloured were the previous one is
silver coloured.
I
bought this one over here in England at Sutton-In-Ashfield 2005 in a shopping
precinct for £8-50, I know it as nothing to do with the western theme but it is
a nice buckle just the same.
